Soulcalibur IV Screens - Now With More Kilik!

a post by Josh, filed in funny, game, josh on February 29th, 2008. Read the full post »

This post from Kotaku (more pictures there) explains itself:

This new batch of Soulcalibur IV screens features the next-generation look of three fan-favorite fighters! The quick and formal Xianghua, the brutish Lizardman, and the man with the giant stick, Kilik! Kilik’s name is generally either greeting with a whooping cheer or a pained sigh, as for every fan of his powerful Ling-Sheng Su Style there is another player sick and tired of having a giant rod slammed down on his skull. Kilik is certainly looking formal this time around, isn’t he? Xianghua still dresses as skimpy as ever, and Lizardman is still part lizard, part man, but Kilik seems to have gone and gotten himself a real job in-between games. Good for him!

a post by Griffin, filed in Apple, Computer, technology on February 27th, 2008. Read the full post »

The Macbook Pro is getting an upgrade; new Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn processors are coming in 2.5 and 2.6GHz flavors. These new laptops are bundled with a Mac-specific model of the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB of GDDR3 RAM. The lesser Macbook has also received an upgrade, but only the Macbook Pro is getting the much-rumored multitouch interface. Unofficial sources have been saying that the multitouch interface was only a software upgrade away, and Apple was about 100 days late on its average updating time for laptops.

Valve’s acclaimed puzzle-action hybrid Portal will be given a sequel, according to the game’s lead designer Kimberly Swift.

“Well, I believe Doug Lombardi who is our lead marketing director at Valve, has announced Portal 2,” said Swift in this interview with G4TV.

Lombardi had previously stated that more Portal was on the way, but Swift’s comment is the first mention of a true sequel to be made thus far.

No further details on the project were provided.

Portal won the Game Developers Choice Award for Game of the Year last night in San Francisco. It also took home the awards for Innovation and Best Game Design.

In addition, Still Alive, the acclaimed Portal credits song and an internet meme, is confirmed for Rock Band.

In their keynote at the Game Developer’s Conference earlier today, Microsoft brought Epic Games on to announce Gears of War slated for this November. It has also been announced that there will be a limited edition Gears of War 2 with extra concept art and the like, expect that at an extra $10 or so.

Apparently they made quite a show out of the big announcement. Immediately after talking about Fable, the screen turned red and the following teaser trailer started to play. It doesn’t have much information about gameplay, so don’t get too excited.

Wallpaper & Graphic Art

a post by Griffin, filed in Art, Computer, Review, Websites, internet, program, technology on February 19th, 2008. Read the full post »

I recently came across a site called Social Wallpapering. This site takes a Digg-like angle to wallpaper. All wallpaper is user-submitted, and members thumb-up or down the wallpaper so that the best climbs to the top. However, I have found that even going to the middle of their archive, the wallpaper is excellent. I have downloaded over 60 wallpapers from their site and am using WPchanger to cycle through them.

Their site features great web design, incorporating PHP, CSS, XHTML, and AJAX. It looks amazing and works seamlessly, with almost no load times. They have a great community of users and a forum community. You can also mass-download their wallpapers via bittorrent.
