Battlefield 2142 Review
I’m sure that most of you have heard of the great game from DICE. This game is a first person shooter that is meant to be played online. There is a single player mode, but its not that great. Single player only offers a couple of the many maps in 16 player mode. The AI is smarter than some games but compared to Call of Duty 4, it is retarded. The bots will listen to a very limited amount of commands. They also start out with upgrades that you would have to earn online. If you are just beginning to play start out on single player and try out some of the upgrades.
As I said before, the game is meant to be played online. That’s the best part. The game features an extensive stat tracking system that keeps track of your score from each round and ads them together into a global score. Every certain amount of points you get a rank. As you rise your way through the ranks you will earn unlocks for your hard work. There are over 40 ranks to keep yourself busy with as you play. There are also plenty of awards to earn that give you points.
There are three modes of online play to play. The first is conquest mode. This mode has been with the Battlefield series ever since Battlefield 1942 days. In this mode your team must work together to capture the bases scattered throughout the battlefield. This mode can swing back and forth between teams. If your team captures all the flags throughout the map your team will just have to take out all the remaining enemy soldiers to win. If they capture a flag then the battle is still on. The more flags your team owns, the faster the opponents team points will lower. When it finally reaches zero your team wins.
The next mode is a variation of conquest. Its called Assault lines. Your team must do the same as in conquest mode, except you can’t capture the final base unless every base before it is captured.
The final mode of game play is Titan mode. In the beginning its just like conquest mode. Your team fights over the 5 missile silos. Every 2 minutes the silo captured by your team fires a missile at the enemy titan, working to take down the shield protecting the titan from attack. Once the shield is knocked off line, the fun begins. Now you can either continue to capture the silos to eventually take down the titan, or you can attack from the inside. Inside, you must work together to destroy the 4 reactor consoles that lock the doors to the main reactor room. once these consoles are destroyed then you can attack the reactor. You can use any weapon to damage the reactor, but the most powerful things you can use are the explosive weapons.
There are 4 main classes that you can choose from. Recon, which is a mix of a sniper and special forces. Assault is a mix of medic and riflemen. Engineer is a mix of anti-air, anti-vehicle, and repairman. Finally is support. Support is an infantry suppressor and a resupply man.
If you ever get the chance to play this awesome game, or one of it’s predecessors, you will not be disappointed.
